I don’t think there has to be a lot of light in the room for face ID. I say that because I can use it if I am in bed at night with no lights on, at least none that I’m aware of, in the bedroom. So if it’s dark at night, and there are no lights, then I guess that must mean Face ID doesn’t need much. I have no problems on my Xr.
