Hi Simon, the real question is do you keep wine long enough to worry about the temperature?  ha ha

Does it keep the wine at the correct temperature?

    Hello all,

We have a basement, that was recently well insulated and cleaned.

In full disclosure, that is where our wine rack is kept.

I’ve wanted a thermometer to put down there but did not want a
talking one, but one that worked with an app.

So, my wife got busy shopping on Amazon.

She came across one called the govee Thermometer and humidity
    sensor… for $15.99.

    Govee is spelled g o v e e.

It arrived today.  The set up was done by my sighted wife but
perhaps if we’d made sure the batteries were connected correctly,
it would have just shown up for me, but who knows.

IN any case, the app seems fully accessible.

I’ll list all the details about it below.  I did not set up an
account, as all I want to know is the temperature and humidity.

I may set up an account to keep track of the data over time, but
for the first day I just wanted to know it works.

    It does.

We have roughly a 1300 square foot house.

The basement is concrete and open to the crawl space under the
house which is why we finally got it insulated, etc.

The basement is under the front half of the house.

Being Bluetooth, I wasn’t sure it would work through the floor,
    but it works just fine.

It’s a sunny day here and when it was first turned on after being
in the delivery truck, it read about 82 degrees, and 37 %
humidity., bout 20 degrees warmer than it is outside today.

IN about 45 minutes in the basement it reads: 60.6 degrees and
50.7 % humidity.  The temp is gradually dropping and the humidity
raising, but I suspect they are near their final readings.
