The Echo Dot can be had for less than $50 and is worth a try. You’ll probably have to set it up through the Alexa app on your phone and you’ll need an amazon account to link it to. Once set up, it should be fairly straight forward to use. If it doesn’t work out, You can probably return it to amazon.

I still do not need one for myself but my Mom who is 89 this year and is not very tech savvied has lost almost all of her sight and doesn't want to use VO or talkback on her phone. I am thinking of getting one of these because after demoing giving voice commands to my Iphone she is now interested in doing something similar but not to her phone. Her occupational therapist has convinced her that devices like echos and echo dots are more accurate and would work better for her. She says this is based on her experience as an OT. My question is this, which devices seem the most forgiving for less than perfect speech when giving voice commands? We also do not want to spend a ton of money in case this doesn't work out well for her. Any thoughts/ideas greatly appreciated. -- Dan Beaver (KA4DAN) -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
