Joshua,

When you pair the 2 devices that is what creates the stereo. You do have to 
have both speakers in the same room! I go into the Alexa app on my phone to do 
this. It doesn't require blue tooth.

I've heard, that you can't put 2 echo fourth generations in stereo mode then 
pair with bluetooth.  If I had my own house, I'd have echo fourth gens in every 
room of my house.  It would be great to go into the livingroom in the recliner 
and have the fourth gen echo on the table beside me.
