Hi Christine,

While storage has become very inexpensive, it still does cost money and I
believe Carbonite simply does not want to offer everybody to back up their
external drives for the same cost. It's easy nowadays to buy a 3 Tb drive or
even a network attached storage enclosure which can hold 2 or 4 massive
drives. People fill them with movies, music and pictures and there is just
no way any company could back that all up for probably tens of thousands of
customers for $5 a months.

Regards,
Sieghard

What I don't understand about Carbonite, is that you can't backup external
drives if you have a Mac. If they would add that feature, I would join. I
don't see why that's so hard for them.

I use Carbonite and think that it is both very good and accessible.

I am unsure about why someone thought it less so on the Mac, I use it on the
Mac and cannot find a single thing that does not work well on that interface
with Voice Over.

Its effectively $5 a month to protect as much data as you can squeeze onto
as many internal drives as you have within your machine. Options exist to
add external drives etc.

I have close to 500Gb backed up with it, and its fantastic peace of mind.
You can also access your files when out and about, and changes made
allegedly work their way back to your machine, although I've not tried this.

I can tell you that its a very good service that works well.

Because I'm always ready to try other options and it sounds useful.
