The issue I have with app switcher is that if more than one app is open, it often closes the app that isn't actually active, at least not according to Voiceover. For example, if I have Duo Lingo open and Messages and I just want to close Messages, I do the 3-finger swipe up and it says Messages but actually closes Duo Lingo.

I also have an iPhone 8 as well as an iPhone 13 pro max. There are some bugs with the app switcher in IOS 16. That is why you are seeing apps twice. It is very annoying.
