Paula,  I've not yet upgraded to iOS 17 so this is just me thinking out loud. My experience with most major iOS updates since getting my first iPhone over 10 years ago is that audio issues abound for a day or two after the upgrade. Whether these issues relate to my TTS VoiceOver voice not speaking the same or some other audio issue such as pronunciation snafus, etc, I can't say.
