Here is how you take an app out of a folder on the iPhone.

1. Go into the folder with the apps.
2. 2. Find the app you want to move out of the folder.
3. 3. Double tap on the app and hold your finger on the app for five
seconds.
4.

While holding your finger down, Slide your finger to the left or right to move
the app out of the folder .You'll hear VoiceOver say something like the app is
outside of the folder.

5. You may also hear VoiceOver say that you're moving from page to page.
If you remove your finger you can then move the app wherever you want on your
home screen. The app is now out of your folder. Thanks to Kathy Brandt for
telling me how to do this. Way to go, Kathy!

You have to take the one app out of the folder and it will disappear.

When I took an app out of a folder that only had two apps, it still gave a
folder name, saying that the folder contained one app. Since I haven’t done
this very often, I forget how I eliminated the folder name; would have to
reconstruct. To get the app out of the folder, I double tapped and held on
the app, and slid finger until I got the message “outside of folder, hold for
five seconds to close”. From there I did the newer procedure with going to
edit then flicking up to drag for dropping the app where I wanted .

I didn’t test this all the way to the end since I didn’t want to actually move
an app out of a folder, but try the following:

1. Go into the folder
2. Go into edit mode by flicking down on any icon in the folder and double
tapping on edit
3. Find the icon you want to move and flick down and double tap on drag
4. Now close the folder (I do this by sliding up from the bottom of the
screen to go back to the home page) and find where you want to drop the icon
5. Flick down to drop before or after and double tap

The app should now be on the home page and not in the folder. If there were
only two apps in the folder then the folder will disappear and the other app
will also be on a home page.

Subject: taking an app out of a created folder

A few months ago, I tried moving an app and, despite my setting the app to drop
after another app, good old IOS combined the two apps into one folder. Now I
can’t figure out how to get the app out of that folder. When I go into edit, it
asks if I want to move the app within the folder. How do I get the app out of
the folder?

Thanks
