I think you are maybe doing the double tap wrong.  I just told Siri to play a radio station. I did the double ta£ to start BSI and it worked fine. I then did the two finger double tap to stop and start the radio and it worked fine. The key is that to start Braille Screen Input you have one finger at the top, and one finger at the bottom of the screen, and do the double tap at the same time. If you do the two finger double tap anywhere else on the screen, it is the magic ta£ that starts or stops media playing. Try unlocking the phone, and removing everything from the app switcher, open an edit field in a new message, or notes, and try the braille screen input again. You first put your right hand down, lift it and quickly put your left hand down and lift it. You can do this while in typing mode or command mode. If done correctly, you will hear, dot positions callibrated.  You can callibrate the dots as much as you need. I found that I was putting my hands to far to the top and that made my typing not as accurate.  So I just lowered my hands a little toward the bottom of the screen and my typing got accurate again.
