Hello Everyone,

For those who might be interested in knowing about the Volume issue and the
Silent Mode I was having, I just got off the phone with an Apple rep.
The rep told me the reason why my volume goes high and then goes low, is what
Apple considers to be expected behavior, and for those who are having this same
volume issue, instead of having the volume in settings set to 100 percent, turn
it down to maybe 98 or 95, to see if that will help, but if not, use the up or
down volume buttons to raise or lower the volume sound.
So I tried to turn the volume down to 98 or 95 percent, but on my phone it goes
from 100 percent to 90 percent.
So there doesn’t seem like there is going to be any fix for this one.
I also asked the rep about what the Silent Mode is in the sound and haptics
settings for to show in the status bar just thinking I was accidentally swiping
across the screen that maybe that was raising or lowering the volume.
The rep said if the setting to show in the status bar is turned on it will show
in the status bar on my screen, but that doesn’t show in my status bar on my
screen, rather I have that setting turned on or off.
So, I turned it off, but I noticed when I turned off the Silent Mode not to
show in the status bar, that automatically turned off my phone ringer, as well
as turned off any alerts, so I turned back on the show in status bar, and had
to turn back on my phone ringer.
I’m sorry but, I just don’t see any logic in all this, matter of fact, the
Apple rep said the same thing, but she is using an Android Phone!
Although, when I first talked to her she told me that Apple knows about this
and many people are having the same issue, and that Apple has been and still is
working on this, but then, she read more about what Apple had to say about the
volume, and that is when she told me Apple is saying that is expected behavior.
What a kick in the pants this one is!

Kindly,

Janet.

That is a new setting and I have not looked into all what it does. Sorry.

Richard,

When I went through sounds and Haptics I noticed there is a setting called
Silent Mode and that is set to off, but I noticed under that setting it said
silent mode to show in the status bar and that setting was turned on.
I don’t need that information to show in the status bar, so I turned it off.
Do you know what that setting was for, as I don’t remember ever seeing that
setting before?
I’m just wondering when I am swiping across the screen I might be accidently
swiping in the status bar.

Kindly,

Janet.

What sound level do yd you have your sounds set to under settings, Sounds &
Haptics?
Do you have change with buttons off?
I always keep change with buttons off so changing the volume with the buttons
doesn't effect the ringer and alerts volume.

Have you adjusted the volume while Siri is speaking?
Sometimes, I notice after using Siri the overall volume seems louder.
Ask Siri something like what is the forecast for the next 7 days and while it
is answering, adjust the volume to where you want it.
That usually keeps it fairly constant.

Subject: Volume On An iPhone 16 Pro Question Please.

Hello Everyone,

Since I bought my phone 16 Pro in December of 2024, I’ve had this strange issue
with the volume that is driving me nuts.
When I am reading the Apple News or any other news app I have on my phone, or
even if I am in one of my Apple Music Play List, but no matter which app I am
reading this exact same issue comes up.
The problem is the volume gets louder and louder, and keeps getting louder, and
then I have to turn the volume down as I don’t need it or like it that loud,
Then the volume will go lower and lower until I can’t barely hear anything I am
reading on my phone.
Needless to say I can’t stand this issue.
I know I should have called Apple about this before, but I’ve been very busy
doing other things, but this is really getting nerve recking!
So, I just thought I would ask here before I call Apple.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kindly,

Janet.
