First of all, if an Apple rep is using an Android, and tells an Apple customer that, they probably will not be an Apple rep very long. That is just dumb. Second, how often is this volume issue happening? Perhaps you could get a recording of it. I too think something is wrong with your phone, but it would take having it diagnosed at an Apple store in order to figure it out. I suspect you do not have one near you, so that will probably not happen. I'm running iOS 18.5. I just played around with it and turning off show in status bar had no effect on the silent mode. If you turn silent mode on, it says just next to that setting:  "iPhone will not play ringtones, alerts, and system sounds. iPhone will still play alarms, timers, music, and audio from videos."  You can adjust the ringer volume by smaller amounts by doing a double tap and hold, then slide your finger very slowly. So, I turned it off, but I noticed when I turned off the Silent Mode not to show in the status bar, that automatically turned off my phone ringer, as well as turned off any alerts, so I turned back on the show in status bar, and had to turn back on my phone ringer. I’m sorry but, I just don’t see any logic in all this, matter of fact, the Apple rep said the same thing, but she is using an Android Phone! Although, when I first talked to her she told me that Apple knows about this and many people are having the same issue, and that Apple has been and still is working on this, but then, she read more about what Apple had to say about the volume, and that is when she told me Apple is saying that is expected behavior. Do you have change with buttons off?  I always keep change with buttons off so changing the volume with the buttons doesn't effect the ringer and alerts volume.   Have you adjusted the volume while Siri is speaking? Sometimes, I notice after using Siri the overall volume seems louder. Ask Siri something like what is the forecast for the next 7 days and while it is answering, adjust the volume to where you want it.
