Hi Siegar,
I have the 13 Mini so when I want silent I just press the little bar
just over the volume button.
So what you are saying if I get you correctly is that there is the
facility on later phones whereby one can have their phone silent except
for incoming calls?
Really cool and if I have this correct I will certainly look out for
that feature on my next new phone.

If I use the action button and have it set to toggle silent mode, then if Ring mode is
selected and I press it just once quickly, it says "Hold for silent mode".
If I press and hold for a moment, it will say "Silent mode" and if I then again just
press and release it will say "Hold for ring mode".
If I press and hold it will then say "Ring Mode" Indicating ring mode is active.
I am using iOS 26 Beta, but I am pretty sure it was like this in iOS 18 as well.

That's what I liked. Now it doesn't say that and I hope they bring that back
in the next update.

I like the way it was on my 14 Pro - it said silent Mode or Ring Mode.

I experimented using this for other functions, but in the end found that
returning it to the silent mode was in fact the most useful.
I like the way it vibrates to indicate it is on or off.

The action button is on the left side above the Volume Buttons; I still just
use mine for Silent Mode.

I've had the 16E for about a month and don't know anything about the action
button. Where is it and how does it work.

Hello,
I’m looking for experiences and opinnions between the 16 and the 16e. I’m
curious about the “Action Button” on the 16e and what people think about it.
I’m still in mourning over the loss of the home button, does the “Action
Button” fill in any part of the loss of the home button?
Thanks,
Kim
