All I was trying to explain is that on the phones with the action button in
place of the little mute switch which you push to the front or the back of the
phone, you can simply press said button to achieve the exact same thing.
You could probably use a focus to accomplish what you said, e.g. you want all
notifications silenced except phone calls. But it is not what the action button
does when it is set to Silent Mode.

I have the 13 Mini so when I want silent I just press the little bar just over
the volume button.
So what you are saying if I get you correctly is that there is the facility on
later phones whereby one can have their phone silent except for incoming calls?
Really cool and if I have this correct I will certainly look out for that
feature on my next new phone.

I experimented using this for other functions, but in the end found that
returning it to the silent mode was in fact the most useful.
I like the way it vibrates to indicate it is on or off.
