Peter,

I'm not sure if you already got these answers, but I just noticed I could
answer two of your questions.

When using BSI command mode, you can move from item to item using dots 1 and
dots 4. These are the same as swiping left and right.

When in the App Switcher, if you want to close an app, then you can use dots
1,4,5,6.

It can be a bit tedious, but you can go into Settings -> Accessibility ->
VoiceOver -> Commands -. And the following two sections may help.

Braille screen input will show you what you can do in the braille mode of BSI.

Braille screen and braille keyboard input will tell you the commands that you
can sue with a braille keyboard or in the command mode of BSI. When using a
braille keyboard you inlcude the space bar to distinguish a command from a
braille character, so in the example above, when in the App Switcher, you'd use
dots 1, 4, 5, 6 and the space bar to close something in the App Switcher. When
you're in the command mode of BSI, you don't need to add the space bar, so dots
1, 4, 5, 6 will do the trick. Because of this, any reference that works for a
braille keyboard will provide a lot of help when working with the command mode
in BSI.

Subject: Re: , In braille screen input, how to do a triple swipe up & get the
slash

First Peter, the BRF file should only be used with a braille display.
I won't be near my Braille display today as I am having a colonoscopy and won't
be at my desk. I'm writing on my iPhone.
I'll check the document this evening.
As for the slash in a web page, you press dots 4,5,6 then dots 3,4 using UEB.
The 4,5,6 is like a modifier, which changes the s t sign dots 3,4 into the
slash, so only the slash shows up in print.
I do not recall how to switch between open apps when in Braille Command mode.
someone else probably will.

Thanks Richard for passing on the link to the documents of braille contractions.

I also listened to the mp3 audio recording.

With Jaws, looking at your list of contractions listed alphabetically, I got as
far as the “b”s. the “b” contractions start with the number 2. Maybe a mistake?

Earlier, I got a list of the Command Mode commands.

You can get the app switcher with a double tap of the letter “h”:

Press dot one, dot two and dot five together twice

How (in command mode) to close the highlighted app and move left right through
a number of open apps?

In braille entry, what are the dots for the forward slash character used in a
URL address?

While I was teaching braille for a state rehab agency, I put together a

I gather you have a braille display, so the BRF files could be used on it.

There is an MP3 file where I recorded some and a Word document for braille
commands when using an Aple device.

They can be found at:

There is also some fun stuff there.

Subject: Is there a braille table with dot configurations for characters &
punctuation

Hello,

Now that I’m starting with the braille screen input feature, I need a list of
characters, punctuation etc with the dots used.

My knowledge of braille goes back 60 years. I only remember the alphabet and
common punctuations. At university I knew grade 3 braille and the Nemeth code.
Most of that is now forgotten.

What we now have is Unified English braille.

Is there a table list to help?
How would I use the 8 dot braille?
