You'd needd a Braille translation PROGRAM, like Duxbury, to do the translation FROM .brf TO TEXT, SO THAT JAWS can speak it.

Not that I know of if you are reading a brf file with Jaws rather than on a braille display.

Brf files are going to open as plain text, which will be computer braille and I think if you tried to set up a special dictionary, you would end up with a mess since dots 2,3 will be the number 2, but if you redefine that as b e or if in the middle of a word, bb, you would not be able to read regular numbers, etc.

Is there a dictionary where you can specify whether it is going to say the number 2 for dots 2 and 3 or say the word be for this character as it would be read if it is by itself?  I'm questioning if there is a separate dictionary for braille or does a rule or a batch file need to be set up if needed?

The B cntractions start with ones that use the lower b,
dots 2,3 which in computer braille is the number 2, so
because you are using Jaws and probably a text editor, it
is showing you things in computer braille, so the sign for
the letters b e and the double b which are all dots 2,3 is
being read as the number 2.

This is why I said the file is designed for reading on a
            braille display.

Thanks Richard for passing on the link to the documents of
            braille contractions.

I also listened to the mp3 audio recording.

With Jaws, looking at your list of contractions listed
alphabetically, I got as far as the “b”s. the “b”
contractions start with the number 2. Maybe a mistake?

Earlier, I got a list of the Command Mode commands.

You can get the app switcher with a double tap of the
            letter “h”:

Press dot one, dot two and dot five together twice

How (in command mode) to close the highlighted app and
move left right through a number of open apps?

In braille entry, what are the dots for the forward slash
character used in a URL address?

I gather you have a braille display, so the BRF files

There is an MP3 file where I recorded some and a Word

*Subject:* Is there a braille table with dot
                configurations for characters & punctuation

                Hello,

Now that I’m starting with the braille screen input
feature, I need a list of characters, punctuation  etc
                with the dots used.

My knowledge of braille goes back 60 years. I only
remember the alphabet and common punctuations. At
university I knew grade 3 braille and the Nemeth code.
Most of that is now forgotten.

What we now have is Unified English braille.

Is there a table list to help?
How would I use the 8 dot braille?

                Peter T.
