Hello Chris and All,

I contacted Apple, and they logged into my XR iPhone, and they said everything
is fine, and they checked all the settings, again, everything is fine, the
battery percentage is not the problem.
>From what they can see, the phone is in good condition, meaning the hardware
>and the battery, but they can’t understand why the phone is losing the charge
>like it is.
Apple had me to connect my WI-FI to the phone to see if that would make a
difference, but not really, and if it did, maybe the phone held a charge for a
day, but that’s all.
I bought that phone in November of 2018, but I haven’t used it since December
of 2024, and the battery percentage was the exact same in December of 2024 as
it is today.
I’m thinking because I let the phone drain to zero and left it at zero for too
long, but I’m not sure, and neither is anyone else.
>From what I’ve read online, they say not to let the batteries run down to
>zero, and to keep the phone stored in a cool place, I had the phone stored in
>my dresser drawer since December of 2024, So, I’m thinking I might have
>unknown to myself damaged the batteries because they just can’t hold a charge
>for very long.
I’m not sure even if I was to replace the batteries, would those new batteries
even hold a charge if I’ve already caused damage to the batteries case, or the
entire phone.
According to Apple I shouldn’t have to do anything to the phone. It has been
suggested to keep the phone plugged into a charger, but I don’t think I would
want to do that. I only wanted to use the XR phone as an emergency phone, so if
I accidentally broke my current phone 16 pro, I would still have another phone.
I wasn’t planning on buying another phone yet, but if I want a second one, it
looks like I will have to buy another one.
My XR phone does not have an ESim, but the XR does support ESim.
Maybe I can buy a cheaper phone just as a backup/emergency, not sure, but I’m
going to start searching to find out what I can do.
Bummer! Bummer!

Kindly,

Janet.

The iPhone X is almost 10 years old. I find it extremely unlikely the battery
is like new.

Hello Gera

No according to Apple, it is not the battery.
More something else going on, like the hardware! Isn’t this just lovely!
Apple claims the battery is still like new as when I first bought it.
So, I will need to get the phone 10 checked out before I get a second phone
line!
So now, another mystery! !
Oh my goodness, technology can be a headache to deal with!
But, thank you for the words of encouragement! Smile!

Kindly,

Janet.

It's at 81», thus it's gone bad!, or about to, thus I'd strongly recommend you
replace that battery! Good luck!

Hello Everyone,

I am wanting to use my old phone 10 as a second phone in case I was to
accidentally break my iPhone 16 Pro, I would still have a phone to communicate
with the outside world.
The problem is the phone doesn’t hold a charge, after I unplug the charger, the
phone goes from 100 percent to 0 percent within an hour.
Does anyone have any idea is to why this is happening, and what can I do to
find out the problem, before I call Apple to see what they might say?
I’ve checked the battery health and it is at 81 percent, and according to Apple
that is new as when I first bought it.
I’ve restarted the phone, but to no avail.
Thank you all in advance.

Kindly,

Janet.
