Hi Mary, I am turning off speech in the same manner, space+m. I am testing here right now. I mute, space+m, and as I move from icon to icon on the screen I hear the characteristic click made by VoiceOver when speech is on as well as the sound made when I change to the next line. I wonder what is different?
