Hi Alan, I think you missed my point. Of course there are a plethora
of uses for location services. I use many of the kinds of apps you
describe on a daily basis, particularly GPS apps. You should
absolutely keep location services on for those apps.

But on the other hand, there are apps that request location services
simply for the purpose of data analytics or some other purpose which
doesn't provide any tangible benefit to you. This is not my opinion,
this is widely known and documented elsewhere. I remember reading an
article about the popular game Angry Birds. Apparently that app,
despite simply being a game and not having anything to do with
navigation, wanted to use the user's location. I was only making the
point that you should be aware of which apps need to use location
data, and what they're going to do with it. If anything, it'll safe
your battery.
