Hi, suzanne,

If you don't have iTunes organize your media for you, but rather just tell it
to reference files, in other words, make a shortcut to them, you can hit enter
on each of the filenames. ITunes will display a dialogue telling you that it
couldn't find the file's location. You will see a button in this dialogue to
locate the file again. Press this button, and a standard file dialogue thing
will come up. Navigate to where the file resides on your drive, and press enter
on it. It should start playing in iTunes. Another dialogue will come up asking
you if you would like iTunes to try and find other missing files in your
library based on the location you just told it about, i.e., the location of the
ringtone you just told it about again. You can press either yes or no. I
usually press yes. Sometimes it will actually find things. If it doesn't,
repeat the process again until iTunes knows where all your missing files are
once more.

I do wish there was an easy way to have iTunes display all the files that it
doesn't have links to in a single list. This would make my life so much easier,
as I some sometimes have moved files around to better organize my library on my
computer.

Note: this missing links thing will also happen if you rename a file, as that
is still changing the filepath.

I hope that this makes sense.

Thanks,
Ari
