Navigon is the only one I know of where you can download map data to your device. Be aware none of the iPod Touches including the 5th generation have Gps at least out of the box.

My question is this. Which of the various GPS programs store the map
info on the phone rather than retrieving it each time from the internet?
I am especially interested in programs which announce the names of
streets as they are crossed or approached. Ariadne and blind square come
to mind.

What I hope to do is to load the map info via wifi since I have no cell
service on my 3-GS, and of course the ipod doesn't have cell data
capability. Then if my understanding is correct, I should be able to
take either my 3-GS or my Ipod fifth generation out and about using GPS.

Thanks.
