David, For someone who does not use windows any more, those were very good
instructions. There is only one problem, Even though my device says the book
is downloaded, the tree view for Kindle which I arrived at by following your
instructions is blank. Interesting in that other apps have items in the tree
view, but not Kindle. So, you have gotten me to the right place,. I think,
perhaps, the Kindle app is doing something strange here. I'm not asking you
to tell me what is going on. You have answered my question. But it is most
curious.

I no longer use Windows, having transferred to the Mac in 2011. On the Mac,
the process is slightly different. As it has been a couple years, I cannot
provide exact instructions for Windows iTunes.

When you are in the main list, you down-arrow to the iPhone selection. Press
tab to get to a series of radial buttons. Each radial button is for a
different aspect of your iDevice. Since you want to move books from an app
on your iDevice to your computer, you need to select the apps radial button
by pressing either space or enter on it (I think). You then tab to the
information area. Tab through the columns until you find the table which
says something about transferring information between certain apps and your
computer. Find the app that has the information you desire in the table.
With the app highlighted, tab to the button that tells iTunes to show the
information in the app. Find the information (book in this case) that you
want to transfer to your computer and find the information you select to
tell Windows where to save the book.

Hi David you said. "When syncing your iPhone with iTunes, go into the apps

You can transfer books to and from the specific app to anywhere on your

I'm sorry, I can't get there with these instructions. I can find the list of
apps, but I have no clue how to transfer them other than by syncing the
phone and iTunes. Is this what you meant? If not, could you elaborate
please?

Thanks.

Hi, If I download a book directly to my iPhone, is there any way I can keep
it permanently. If I delete if from the phone, it will likely delete it from
iTunes assuming I have synced it. Am I better off downloading books directly
to my computer where I can place the ones I have read in a particular
folder? Or, are there other ways to make sure I have a permanent copy of the
book? Example, is there a place in iTunes where the book is stored such that
I could make a copy of it?

Thanks much.
