You can do this quite easily.
If you have a lightning to 30 pin adapter then you can use that to
connect an audio/video cable to the iPhone 5.
I don't know if they make an iPhone 5 version of the cable yet but you
can do it quite successfully with the iphone 4 cable.
These cables usually have RCA plugs at the end, two for left and right
audio and the rest for video.
Works like a charm.
The only thing I don't like about doing it that way is that voiceover
comes through your stereo which at times can be quite annoying.
I decided after doing it that way for a while to get an airport express
instead and using airplay and the airport express d2a converter with its
3.5 mil female audio out jack just plugged the airport exprress in to
my stereo.
It works fantasticly well and now voiceover only comes through my phone
and I am not tethered to a cable at all so can be anywhere in the
apratment and control the aduio streams.
