Oh, well I had the NBP iPhone book before I got my phone at Verizon. Good thing because I had to talk them through setting up Voice-Over, they did not even know at that time that it existed. After I spent over an hour between getting it turned on fir the first time and them trying to see if they could move my contacts off another phone which they could not, I went away knowing Voice Over was working and nothing else. I hope things have changed but In the first weeks I used that book a lot, it is still on my shelf for an occasional reference.
I can laugh about it now but two years ago in April I was not laughing. Apple Store, not close, never been to one, probably never will. He had said he knew about voice-over but never had the chance to try it out so we'll learn about it together he said. We spent the next 3 or 4 hours learning various gestures etc, to get me up and using my phone. He even gave me his personal cell number incase I needed help. I can't say enough good things about how I was treated at my local AT&T store. If I remember right, it was about a month after I had my phone that I got a call from the young fellow asking me how I was doing with my phone and did I have any questions or problems he could help me with. Very happy with the service at AT&T. ----- Original Message ----- From: Patti Johnson <mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, June 06, 2013 10:47 AM Subject: Phone is working I went to the AT&T store with a friend who incidentally had to get a new phone and got an iphone. Anyway, the guy took mine, and within seconds had it working again. I was thankful especially he knew what to do but just frustrated I had to make the trip, just because any other sighted person I would ask would say they didn't know how to help me. None of my sighted friends are at all technical savvy, they can barely do email. Oh well, at least I have my phone back.
