Esther, thanks for this. I've just downloaded and installed it to my iPhone
and it's still free.

  Hi Anthony,

I'm in the US, and this app still shows up free for me, though I don't expect
it will be for much longer. It's a Free App of the Day selection. Did you
double tap on the link? There is an older DocScanner app by the same people,
and that app is not on sale. The one I linked was newly released on July 7,
2013, and was $6.99, currently free, version 1.0 of DocScanner Pro. Then there
is DocScanner: Scan Multipage Documents to Beautiful PDFs version 6.0.3 that
is $4.99 (iPhone and iPad) and DocScanner Classic version 5.1.2 for iPhone
only) that is $9.99. All those are different apps by the same developer, and
not free.

  Cheers,

  Esther

your OCR app of choice, but it's a new app from the people who developed the
SayText app, and it's free today. And it's not so much that the app doesn't
have labeled controls, as that the layout and workflow are not particularly
conveniently set out for our use, and there is meant to be some interactive
adjustment steps, although the app tries to automatically detect edges. The
main reason for posting this is so that Sandy and other list members who
explore lots of OCR apps can get this to play with it while it's free.
SayText, although not so easy to use unless you had already mastered freehand
OCR apps with apps like Prizmo, amazingly produced reasonable results at very
low light levels if you managed to hold the iPhone camera flat, steady, and
aligned at the correct height (which is higher than for most OCR apps, since
the app tries to automatically detect the edges of pages.)

guide at the very end of the Settings screen (use four finger tap on bottom
half of screen to move there). I havent't really gotten this working at all
yet, but it seems to have more possibilities than the earlier DocScanner app
from these folks. Not sure whether this will be usable.
