Your food stocks will be replenished over time. If you run out of food
adventuring or training your heroes then just wait a bit and you'll have
more food to go adventuring and do some more training. It'll take longer
to play the game without esper, but you can do it. I have fun playing
the game, and I'm in no hurry to get through it.
You need esper to build some buildings, but you don't need to build
those buildings to play esper. Just focus on the buildings where you
only need gold to build them.
Of course, I'm not trying to talk anyone out of buying esper. Buying
esper and making other in app purchases is the best way to support the
developers, it's just not necessary to play the game.
