HI all,

To answer Keith's question regarding the complete shutdown of VoiceOver if
one executes a hold of the Sleep/Power button and Home button for 10 seconds
for a shut down, this not only results in VoiceOver being disabled, it also
appears to reset VoiceOver back to factory defaults. I had to attach my
non-speaking iPod Touch 5th gen to my desktop and use iTunes > Accessibility
to turn voiceover on once again. I'm still a bit P/O at myself for using
such poor judgment! I now have to add previous items back on the rotor and
hope I didn't trash parts of the operating system! I'll definitely be more
cautious in terms of how I follow advice next time!

Joseph

For those who may know a bit more about the technical processes involved,
when pressing the sleep/power button and the Home button at the same time
for 10 seconds as Chris suggested, is this equivalent to a proper shutdown
and reboot, or is this the same as forcing a shut down by pressing and
holding the power button on a Windows computer? If this is an illegal
powering down of the iPod, this of course risks the stability of the OS.

Also, this process Chris suggested does not result in a restart of my iPod
Touch 5th gen with VoiceOver talking. At this point I have no sound and have
no idea what my iPod is doing. Guess I should have waited for more feedback
before taking action on the suggestion--especially since I know better. :)

Does this still run the risk in some devices of turning off VO?

Press and hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together for at least ten
seconds.
