Hi Pablo and everyone,

The last few days have been both exciting and somewhat stressful with all of
the activity--the new Iphone 5s, a very different looking operating system
than IOS6, and mixed opinions as to how well it is going to work overall for
the blind and vi users of Apple products.

Before you decide IOS7 is not for you, try to remember, we have all only
been using the new operating system for about four days. There have been so
many messages to the list, it is probably impossible for all of us to read
every message posted to the list. Here are a few suggestions that might help
you better make the transition a more positive one: The manuals are now
available through Ibooks for both the Iphone and Ipad. Both books are free.
Jonathan Mosen of Mosen Consulting has written an excellent book, "IOS7
Without The Eye." that provides a thorough explanation of IOS7 with voice
over. Please refer to his website: www.Mosen.org. The book is available for
$19.95. Last, this list has incredibly bright and talented people who are
very willing to answer questions. As Raul and Cara have mentioned in the
past, when we ask questions, try to be as specific as possible. The more
specific a person is when asking questions, the answers posted in response
will be much more helpful.

I believe the tone of my message is that I am trying to be helpful--not make
you or any other readers angry. That being said, I'm not sure wanting to go
back to IOS6 is the best plan in the long run. The number of apps available
will become fewer and fewer as developers move to IOS7. I am encouraging you
and others on the list who want to go back to IOS6 to use the resources that
are available to you, give yourself some time to learn the new operating
system, and be part of the community finding solutions to help blind and vi
impaired people to live more independently.

There is some good news in all of this buzz of the last few days. As in the
past, when people have reported bugs or problems effecting users of voice
over, I believe Apple has tried to fix things to make them as user friendly
as possible. I understand that is a very subjective statement. My point
being, I can't ever remember Apple's response being one of "too bad."

Just for the record, all this IOS7 and Apple cheerleading is coming from a
woman four days ago that was not pleased with Apple customer service at all.
The volume broke on my 4s. The earliest appointment they could offer was ten
days away. I was told I needed to understand "how busy they are with the 5s
and IOS coming out." I went in to the store without an appointment, waited
20 min., was handed a new 4s and left. My luck was not so good purchasing a
5s on Fri. I'm so glad I have a working phone, having a 5s is the least of
my worries right now. LOL

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

should be a way to crak that locked that apple did with the downgrades. I
don't know, I don't see it fir. I pay a device, so if they provide a
upgrade, an operated system, that doesn't work for me, but the previous
operated system that my device worked well. Why is fir that apple doesn't
allow me to go back to the operated system that was working for me when I
bought the device?
I would like to ask to my lawyer is it is legal, or what kind of law frame
work can I use to improve it for the customers. Customers that are buying a
product that the upgrades reduce the functionality of what ever they bought.

Earlier I posted that you could revert back to iOS 6. Unfortunately Apple
has blocked that ability now. You were able to revert when iOS seven beta
was out. But with the public release of iOS 7 you can't. Apple operating
system is still the most accessible application on the market. But there are

definite bugs in it compared to iOS 6. Why Apple doesn't put voice over
features through a more rigorous testing process I don't know. But here are
a compilation of the problems I have experienced thus far.

Many have discussed the jerkiness of voiceover. IT will have experienced
this. I have an iPhone five and iOS seven. To be more specific it occurs
when typing in Twitter or typing messages. I will be typing a message and
flick up or down one time to go past a word. Sometimes voice over will then
we verse my motion. Instead of being at the end of the word as I intended
suddenly I am at the beginning of the word. I'm a fairly educated individual

having a doctorate degree. So it is not due to me accidentally touching the
screen or anything on my part. It is a flaw in the software at least on my
phone. Another example of a voice over error occurs in the Twitter
application Twitterrific. Sometimes it will read a tweet again and again and

again until I swipe left or right to move up or down the list of tweets.
This I could be a problem with the Twitter application itself. However I
have the most up-to-date version

Most annoying problem I experience is regarding voice over when I am playing

music or audio and the phone is locked. It occurs when I play audiobooks or
music. Voice over will suddenly say screen locked. It will occur randomly
and continuously. It usually occurs every 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Is a software
glitch for sure. Sometimes I am able to prevent it from having this error if

after locking the phone I disabled then reenable voice over.

Other then a new look which doesn't appeal to me considering I'm blind and
iTunes radio which I myself don't use there aren't many new features that I
personally use. But as I said it is the most stable application on the
market. I'm surprised that Google doesn't make their software accessible It
is quite a shame considering they are designing driverless cars.

I am considering purchasing an iPhone 5 S and if I do I will update the list

as to whether I experience any of these same difficulties.
