They’re different. LTE is the fastest cellular connection you can get, but it’s not available everywhere, so as you travel you may shuttle between 4G and LTE coverage.

So here goes. I've used an iPhone 4 on AT&T for 2 and a half years with either wi-fi or 3g, and now that I've had my 5S on AT&T for a couple of weeks now, I'm curious about something. When I'm not connected to wi-fi and am out and about, sometimes my status bar will say 4g, and other times it will say LTE. Is there a difference between the two?
