Hi Geoff, If there are any issues at all with an iPhone in terms of sluggishness or poor battery performance it is best to restore to factory settings and set up as a new phone. It's a bit of work to set up email again and get everything back how you want it, but it can be rewarding since sometimes you can restore problems along with everything else.

I recently had my iPhone 5, purchased in October 2012, replaced just before the warranty expired. Of course, the replacement phone came with iOS 6 and I had to upgrade to iOS 7 before restoring my backup from iCloud. One thing I noticed was that with the fresh version of iOS 7, it seemed snappier and not as prone to focus jump. After I restored the backup, it seemed the same as always. I don't know if this applies to your particular issue. In fact, it probably does not. Still, I thought I would mention it. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sandratomkins Sent: Thursday, October 17, 2013 4:45 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: VO not holding focus. hi Aman, Yes I have reduce motion turned on. I have automatic background refresh turned off. and I have followed all the advice for battery conservation and processes speed etc. I have my switcher pretty much empty, but one thing I would like to know, if I had apps that might drain the battery but they are not running will they affect it anyway? re the battery backup: I actually do have one which isn't too bad. However, I prefer to use the iPhone 4 as my battery backup because in that way I get other functionality as well. i'm guessing that the last thing I'll have to try is the reset to factory settings option and see if that improves things at all. because this loss of focus especially on apps such as the one for my crossword puzzle is a serious one it actually means I cannot use the 4 S for the things that I can use it for on the 4. I will let you know if I managed to find a way to improve things! Thanks for all your good advice, Sandy.
