You shouldn't have set it up as a new device. The triple click home
should work no matter what providing no one but you have set it up. So
that's where you're going wrong; you're setting it up as a new device
which is not what you want.

Okay. When I connect my iPhone to the computer iTunes opens and when I am in my
device, I have a choice to back it up to the cloud or manually. Are you saying
that if this phone wasn't setup from the get go that I couldn't back it up to
the cloud through iTunes at a later point in time? I usually only back up
manually to the computer. What advantages would I have to also back the phone
up to the cloud?
