I found this interesting, the other day I didn't arace my whole phone just
tapped on reset settings which sets the phone back to factory settings
without deleting the data, however even though vo was speaking I had to go
into accessibility shortcuts and turn the tripple click home back on, I
found that interesting and wondered why I had to do that?

Subject: Re: Restoring From THE Cloud
Hi,
There’s really no need to connect your device to iTunes. But, the first
thing you want to do is, make sure you have iCloud backups turned on. So on
your iPhone, since this is the information you want to restore your iPad
from, go to settings/iCloud. Now double tap on Storage & Backup. Here,
will have the option to turn iCloud backups on if it isn’t already, and you
can do a backup manually right here on this page. It also shows the date
and time of your last iCloud backup if there is one. After insuring you
have an iCloud backup, go ahead an erase all data and settings from your
iPad again. It will take a little time to do its thing, and of course,
Voiceover won’t be on when your iPad restarts. Pressing the home button 3
times will turn on Voiceover though. Where you would find unlock, you might
hear Voiceover speaking a bunch of different languages. Double tap on this.
Don’t worry, Your device will be in english. Go through the setup process,
and you should be asked if you want to restore your device or set up as new.
Check to restore from your iCloud backup.

I went to general, reset and erase all content and data. Of course, VO was
gone. Now I went to my iTunes and since I could not see turn on VO, I
asked instead to set up iPad as a new iPad. I triple tapped home and VO
started. I was now on the screen where it says hello in many languages. I
tapped hello and after quite a while it asked to set up iPad. Going
through this process was fine. Went then into settings and again to
general and reset. When I tapped on that there was reset network, home
page, dictionary and reset data and settings, I beleve which I tapped. It
asked for my apple ID, and did something, but none of my settings or apps
were downloaded. What did I do wrong? Am I asking for too much to have my
iPad with the same settings and apps as iPhone?

Hi,
Thanks for clarifying this for me. That's what I thought. The reason that
I posted this is that there is a recent post in using the cloud to restore
a new iDevice, whatever it is using iCloud. Others need to be clear that
the current version of an app will be placed on the new device and that
some apps become broken when a new version is released. I just wanted
others to know this before using the cloud.
Thanks.
Best,
Eileen
Hi Chris and All,
Okay. When I connect my iPhone to the computer iTunes opens and when I am
in my device, I have a choice to back it up to the cloud or manually. Are
you saying that if this phone wasn't setup from the get go that I couldn't
back it up to the cloud through iTunes at a later point in time? I usually
only back up manually to the computer. What advantages would I have to
also back the phone up to the cloud?
Thanks.

Nothing, no restore at all. I just cannot figure out what I am looking
for. I did a backup on iPhone, but when I go into my iPad, iCloud,
manage backup, no restore. Am I missing it or is it not restore but
another word? Sorry, just plain stuck which is where I've been since I
got the iPad. Thanks.

I think you have this right. If you restore from the cloud, you always
get the most recent version of an app. I remember Jonathan Mosen
reported this a while back.

Hello,
I am posting a new thread for clarification. It is my understanding
that if one chooses to restore from the cloud that the apps placed on
the new device will be the current version of an app. First, Is this
true? And, if one wants certain apps to be an older versions that one
should restore from iTunes. Further explanation of this would be
terrific, as I will be purchasing a new phone in the near future.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Eileen
