Hi Rick, This started as somewhat of a joke but I wear mine on the left exactly for that reason. I'm right handed also.
As for the vertical case, I had one for my iPhone 4 so they are around. Mine was white but there are various colours. I got mine from Amazon. The problem with the vertical case is that, when you bend down, the bottom of the case presses against your thigh and the case pops off your belt. Ron & Danvers Falling down is part of LIFE... When using my phone on my belt I used to wear it on my right but started wearing it on my left. If you are right handed, it sort of feels better this way because you don't have to switch the phone from your right hand to the left which is the case if you are carrying it on your right. What I would like to find is a belt case that is vertical instead of horizontal and is large enough to hold my 5s while it's in a battery case. I'm sure there is one somewhere, just have to find it.
