Hi Alan,

If you keep your phone in your pocket and if you don't tend to drop it then
having it naked is the best experience (isn't it always) *smile*

I swiped my iPhone 4S off the counter in my store once, it is 40 inches high
(around belly height give or take) and it fell on tiles which in turn are
installed on a concrete slab. There is 0 give to that floor. It skittered
across the tiles for 3 feet and there wasn't a scratch on it. On the other
hand Rob from the Today in iOS Podcast said his 6-year old son dropped his
old iPhone 4 on tile in the pool and it only feel from less than 3 feet and
the screen shattered.

Sieghard

I've been thinking that the screen isn't made of cheap plastic and the back
is metal. My iPhone 4 is still in it's hard shell case. A part of me is
thinking that's really a sharp looking phone and iPhones are like the brick
outhouse. Can't say that other word on this list! I've had plastic cell
phones that really did need a case. I'm just wondering out loud if I really
need a case or if I've just bought into the advertising marketing idea that
I do. So I guess maybe this is expanding my original question. Does
anybody on the list or has anybody on the list just skipped a case? Has or
is your phone any safer

Alan, I have an iPhone 5 and mine is always in my pocket too. Based on a
recommendation I got from this list, I use the Tech21 case that completely
covers the back of the phone and the sides with holes for the plugs and the
lightning connector. I also have a film protector on the screen since the
Tech21 does not cover it at all. The case does have a special material
around the edges that remains flexible until it comes in contact with
something at which time it hardens. I really like this case because it
offers good protection without adding any bulk to the phone.

As my wife and I were just talking about, do you need a hard shell case when
your phone is always in your pocket. So what do all of you use. A hard
case, soft case, no case?

I'm not certain which case you got, I know there are number of other cases
that Apple sells. My case has no older to it. But this is a subjective thing
and what's good for one is probably not good for another.

Hi Alan,

I did buy one when I ordered my iPhone and it of course showed up after a
week whereas my iPhone took almost 4 weeks. In my book it's a disappointment
and I certainly don't think it's worth $40. I would love to send it back to
Apple, but I decided to keep it in a very safe place until my iPhone arrived
because I did want to see how it looks when the iPhone is in it, but I put
it in such a safe place that I can't find it any more. *smile*. Another $45
wasted (that is what it costs in Canadian currency). Would I recommend it?
Probably not, as I said, it's OK, I am sure it will fit great, but it smells
funny and in my book looks cheap and you can probably buy a $3 TPU case
which would do just as good a job protecting the phone, that's like one
tenth the cost of Apple's leather case and I can guaranty that the Apple
case is not ten times as nice. Oh well, I guess they have to make money
somewhere considering how poor they are. In my opinion this is just as much
of a rip-off as a Lifeproof case with Belt clip for $110 or $120 or whatever
they cost.

Subject: Leather iPhone 5 and 5s Case

Hi all,

In the Apple store app and it was also on the Apple site they have a new
leather case for the 5 and the 5s. It's suppose to fit the 5s snug and they
say even all the holes line up etc. It sounds nice and I'd like to get one
but before I shell out 40 bucks I was wondering if anybody on the list has
one of these cases and if so, what has been your experience with it?
