I agree you don't see too many netbooks lying around any more, but I'm
not sure they didn't have a lasting effect. I think they pointed out to
the industry, given how wildly popular they were for a few years there,
that people want an inexpensive and portable way to view content. I
wouldn't be surprised if they didn't influence companies product
strategies when it came to tablets, ultra thin laptops and Chromebooks.

Hello Andrea,
Well, I guess it all depends on what you are doing with your iPad. As for
Netbooks, I bought one a few years back and was impressed at first, it was
small if not thin, but the battery life was good. But the thing was slow and
I guess there is a reason why Netbooks came and went without leaving much of
an impact.
I personally could not do without a laptop, I live in Excel for business
reasons and use other specialized Windows software. Even if I want to do a
lot fo stuff online and do it very fast, Jaws and Windows for somebody who
has been using it for 24 years is hard to beat.
A few things I love to do with apps, like booking hotels, looking up Trip
Advisor reviews and so on, but while I'd love to have an iPad Mini, I can't
see it as a laptop or even desktop replacement any time soon.
Regards,
Sieghard

I got an iPad air for an early Christmas present and I love it. Didn't think
I would really need to use one at first but they're awesome because this big
laptop is getting annoying these days. The iPad air reminds me of the
netbooks and I loved those.

Clifton and all if you can please share with us your experiences with the
iPad Air. I've neither heard nor seen any negatives as with the case with
Apple products grin, but you never know. I can't wait to get myself an
iPad in the future as my laptop replacement. Thank you so much.
