Hi Alan, I am just curious why using Skype on an iPad seems strange to you. People use Skype on all sorts of devices, on computers for one, PC and Mac, after all, when I started using Skype around 2005 there were very few devices which allowed you to use Skype other than a computer. My Mom has an iPad 2 and we use Facetime or Skype all the time with and without video and when my parents are travelling my Mom always brings her iPad which allows her to use whatever WiFi network is available to send emails, call mme with Facetime or use Skype to call regular phones. For somebody older who benefits from the larger screen of an iPad but who doesn't have a laptop to take along I think the iPad is a perfect mobile communications device.
