I had purchased some inexpensive lightning cables from Amazon that worked fine with IOS 6. Since IOS 7 I get that warning message every time and they do not always work anymore. I have not worried about it too much since the battery case for my iPhone uses a micro USB to charge the phone and I now only need the lightning cable for syncing. I think Apple put that feature in IOS 7 so they could prevent users from utilizing knock-off cords. But doing a restart can solve many problems so it is worth a try. My iPhone 5 was massively messing up the other day and a restart took care of all the various problems.

Yeah, as long as your phone is responding, I'd suggest doing a
controlled power off and restart by holding down the lock button until
you get the message to power off. I'd only resort to a reset by holding
down the lock and home buttons if you're phone isn't responding. I doubt
either would cause a problem, but I'd always do a controlled shutdown
whenever possible to avoid the chance of any data loss or corruption.

Before you turn the phone off that way, try just using the power
button and turning it off.

I hadn't thought about the reset, but will try that later today.

Hi,
I wouldn't worry about this. I would just perform a reset using the power
and home buttons held down for, perhaps, 10/20 seconds. Then wait until
you hear "voice-over on". My for S and, for that matter, my old for, have done this from time to time. For the most part, it means nothing, but, if
it persists, you might try a different cable. If your phone is new, you
should be able to get a replacement for free.

Good luck,
Sandy

I had this weird thing happen to me this morning when trying to charge my
i phone 5c.
when I attached the cable to charge it, it popped up this message that
said, "this cable or accessory is notcertified and might not work on this
i phone."

thing is, this is the same cable it came with, and I've been using it to
charge my phone for months now!

I've turned off the phone and am now charging it another way, using my
power pack, but does anybody know anything about this message?

Thanks,
Cait
