You don't have to use the map pins at all. Just tap on search for location, nearby ones will be listed and if yours is not, just type it in. The drivers prefer this anyway. I use Uber exclusively and just have no issues with it whatsoever. I highly recommend it. They have the potential of surge pricing but it has only happened once to me and you totally know about it. In my case, I waited ten minutes and the surge was over. Obviously that might not happen, but nothing requires you to use them so if there's a surge and you think you can do better elsewhere, go for it. That simple.
