Well, perhaps I can see the first part about the safety of the microphone. If
you make a longer lightning connecter for thicker cases, perhaps it could be
less stable. Given the various thicknesses of cases, it would be possible to
perhaps have a case that was thinner than the specs they designed for and there
might be a gap between the microphone and the case which would, in fact, make
the microphone less securely mounted. But I don’t get the second part. What
does this have to do with “the measure against noise and sound quality?”

Anyway, I guess we have the answer. We may just have to live with this as is. I
just cut the bottom off one of my cheep rubber cases and because of the way it
is designed, the iPhone is still quite stable in the case without sliding out.

Subject: Zoom IQ5 microphone

I just received this new note back from the makers of the Zoom IQ5 microphone
in response to my original inquiry about making their microphone usable with an
iPhone in a case.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your inquiry.

After deep contemplation of the safety of a microphone, the measure against
noise and sound quality, there is no such plan right now.

Anyway, we will forward your feedback to the development team for future
reference.

Sincerely yours,

ZOOM Corporation <<
