Annie, I no longer have my microphone, bug I remember sensing the same
thing. I didn't measure it, but it did feel quite short. And I'm only
theorizing about patents and such. I obviously don't know the answer, but I
just raised it as a possibility. Any way, it doesn't sound like we will get
much help from Zoom on this. I really have to wonder, though, if everyone in
the world takes the phone or iPad out of its case to use this microphone. I
would think that a lot of people would be complaining about this.

Hi Neal.

To me this lightning adapter looks shorter than a normal lightning adapter.

Best regards Annie.

One other thing. I'm guessing the lightning connector is patented by Apple,
so I don't think it can likely be changed by making it longer, etc. One
could use an adapter, but I'm guessing Zoom would not be actually able to
change the connecter itself.

Well, perhaps I can see the first part about the safety of the microphone.
If you make a longer lightning connecter for thicker cases, perhaps it could
be less stable. Given the various thicknesses of cases, it would be possible
to perhaps have a case that was thinner than the specs they designed for and
there might be a gap between the microphone and the case which would, in
fact, make the microphone less securely mounted. But I don't get the second
part. What does this have to do with "the measure against noise and sound
quality?"

Anyway, I guess we have the answer. We may just have to live with this as
is. I just cut the bottom off one of my cheep rubber cases and because of
the way it is designed, the iPhone is still quite stable in the case without
sliding out.

I just received this new note back from the makers of the Zoom IQ5
microphone in response to my original inquiry about making their microphone
usable with an iPhone in a case.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your inquiry.

After deep contemplation of the safety of a microphone, the measure against
noise and sound quality, there is no such plan right now.

Anyway, we will forward your feedback to the development team for future
reference.

Sincerely yours,

ZOOM Corporation <<
