I guess if somebody really needed an accessible phone now because maybe they had an old phone with MobileSpeak which doesn't work any more or they need it for work or they just want it now then there is a point in getting it now. I somewhat agree regarding waiting, but it is only April 30 which means it's still going to be a full 5 months before you can get a new phone if Apple announces the phone in the first part of September again and starts shipping in late September.
I would, however, buy a 5S for sure and not a 5C especially since I heard that some places already have started to offer it for $99 at least during certain promotions. That's of course for the 16 Gb model and I would recommend to buy at least a 32 Gb version since apps are getting larger and I think most people find that 16 Gb is just not enough space.
