I used my 54S with iOS 7 in the beginning and it was no problem at all. The 4 was slower but the most recent iOS 7.1.1 update addressed this to a large degree and I have some friends who still have a 4 and who say that iOS 7.1.1 now runs much better. As for battery, well, yes a iPhone 4 battery would drain faster because it's a 3-year old battery and I don't think that has anything to do with iOS 7 but more with the fact that it's a battery which nears the end of its lifespan. I could also see that the iPod Touch Fifth Generation gets an update again as it will be 2 years and of course the iPad, let's see if Apple will add a 12 or 13 inch iPad Pro to the iPad Air and iPad Mini as well as Touch Id.
