Reasons are probably endless, but... There isn't a large population of 
hackers and such targeting Macs. Nevertheless, as you well know, there have 
been viruses targeting Macs. Besides, why chase after the dolphins when a 
ride on the Microsoft whale can be much more exciting for the hacker.

That's a good point, I too am glad of the security. However, how does one
explain the fact that the Mac does have a file system and there is still
very good security there. Meanwhile, there has to be an update to Windows
security more often than I can keep up with.

I would prefer the lack of access to the file structure over being able to
add viruses and hack phones more easily. Also, as much as I hate it, ITunes
is great when you have more than one phone.
