There are a few different styles of keyboard covers. The ones I'm familiar with
are the folio style covers. The keyboard is on the inside of the flap that
covers the screen when closed. They don't hurt the screen because they are
usually pretty flat laptop style keys. Logitech, Belkin Zagg are some of the
manufacturers that have several different models.

Subject: RE: This might seem like a strange question about ipad mini vs iphone

Hi,

I'm curious about these keyboard covers or cases for iPads and iPad Minis. How
exactly is the keyboard incorporated into the case? I keep imagining a keyboard
hardware over the lower part of the screen, but this can't be the case, can it?
Is the keyboard on the inside of the flap that covers the screen when closed?
Doesn't this run the risk of damaging the screen?

Thanks in advance for an explanation. Keith

This is actually a good point if you plan to use the mini as a sort of laptop.
Because of the larger size, the keyboard covers you can get for them are very
nice because they can accomidate a larger keyboard that are usually very
comfortable to type on just like a laptop. In this sense, the mini works very
well and so does the regular full size iPad.

Hi,

I just came back from a trip to Las Vegas where I left my Macbook pro behind,
and brought my iPad mini with me. I have a logitech folio keyboard case for
it. I only use the keyboard when typing not so much for navigating. This
setup worked extremely well for me. For starters, the battery life. It was
nice going 3 days on a single charge, and thats after hard use. Video
streaming, ebook reading, music streaming, web browsing, etc. During that same
time, I was recharging my iPhone sometimes twice a day.

As far as the gestures go, since the screen is larger, some might feel their
gestures need to be larger as well. This is definitely not the case. moving
your finger left, right, up or down is more than enough to do the trick for
navigating on an iPad.

Thanks.
