Battery life on the iPhone 6 is noticeably improved due to the new iOS 8 processor which uses the 20 Nanometer technology and is much more power efficient. I think we will see improvements in battery life over the next few years rather than the other way around. Battery life on my 5S with iOS 7 is no worse than what it was on my 4S with iOS 5 or iOS 6.
