Yes. I've been thinking that there was a developing problem with my Home
button. I had to turn off the shortcut for VO because of this, and I still
find that it opens the app switcher most of the time. Thank you for
confirming that it is not a physical problem with my phone. I thought that
it was quite a coincidence that the home button started misbehaving just
after upgrading to IOS8. Now it is time to contact Apple Accessibility
about it even though my phone is no longer under warrantee.

Subject: Home button and VoiceOver

Hi,

Does anyone have a problem with the iPhone 5 and VoiceOver? When I press the
home button, sometimes it activates two or three times turning VoiceOver
off. It is hard to produce this on a consistent basis. I emailed
accessibility form Apple, and they say they can't reproduce the bug.
