Would you actually go to a restaurant with your family and try to use KNFB Reader to read the menu while they probably already selected what they want and then wait to see if you get a good result? I value independence as much as the next person, but if I walk into an elevator with a friend, family member or even a bunch of strangers, I don’t have to push the correct button just because it has braille if others who are pushing their own floor are already asking me and I can just tell them which floor I want. The same for me applies to a restaurant menu. I guess if I were by myself it would be one thing to use KNFB for this instead of asking the waiter or waitress to read it, but usually choosing a meal when I go out with friends or family becomes a conversation anyways and I don’t feel that anybody thinks I am not independent just because they are reading this information for me.
