I fully agree with your message below. Being independent is one thing, but being practical is another thing. If people can find the right balance between practicality and independence then that is the best for everyone. For example, just because I can do something a certain way doesn't mean it's always the best way to do that certain way. If I am with someone and they have offered to help me go over the menu, it's going to be more time efficient to let that happen that way instead of me taking a picture of the menu of each page and then deciding what I want after they have already decided 10 minutes ago. To me being independent is figuring out the most practical and efficient way of getting the job done.
