Something else that just occurred to me was that the example program included with the IUCV driver we wrote for Linux would do this as well. It takes anything delivered by *MSG and sends it to syslog, which could be rerouted as necessary. It might make your admin types more comfortable to have the stream coming from a Unix/Linux system -- wouldn't scare them as much.
