Folks, this is even more broken than I originally realised ... I was getting some weird behaviour where it'd want write access to disks
that I'd already, "done". It happened a couple of times but I put it down to just too many years in front of the keyboard. Then, driving home, it suddently dawned on me what's happening ... They're fixing the VTOC to match the true size of the disk. When I ran R17-plus-PTF against my disks with the disks linked R/W, in order to, "fix things" for my #1 target system, I used full-pack minidisk s. When I reran the CPVOL LIST commands I linked (R/O) to the minidisks in £ALLOC£ - and, as tradition demands, these are one-cylinder minidisks at location zero. Dear old ICKDSF is saying, "Oops! the VTOC says he's got thousands of cylinders, but he's only got one - I'd better rewrite it!" So, anytime you do a CPVOL LIST using ICKDSF-plus-PTF you'd better have exactly the same size minidisk as you had last time you ran it, or it'll demand write access so's it can play with the VTOC! <sigh> Keep making the calls folks - I originally thought this was just a, "nit" - but if it's allowed to stand as-is then I now see that it has the potential to turn into a serious and perennial thorn in our collective sides. Oh well, it's teatime here, so TTFN. Regards Jeff
