Personally I'm hoping that, as of 5.6.1, we can have binary compatibility
across sub-versions for VMS. I'd have liked to get it in for 5.6.0 (so it'd
be available for 5.6.1) but there's no time. (I think--5.6.0's release
keeps getting pushed off because of bugs being found, but I don't want to
introduce any new features until it's out)
